The XTC Cooler attaches to your motherboard's DIMM socket retention levers, making it compatible to use with all STANDARD SIZED DDR, DDR2, or DDR3 modules. While the fans cool your system memory, glowing LED fans illuminate your memory subsystem.
* XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreaders optimize the thermal management of memory modules by promoting greater airflow by means of micro-convection throughout what is usually the dead air space inside conventional heatspreader designs. In this manner, build-up of heat is avoided and thermal dissipation of the memory components is offloaded more efficiently through the honeycomb design. At the same time, mechanical stability is maintained.

Must have for those FB-DIMM memories that runs hot!!!!

Since my computer are FB-DIMM based computer, I wonder if this is the reason it does not fit to snugly. It kinda falls on it side, laying against one of the RAM module and does not seems to effect the performance of this cooler. I bought two of these in hope that I could install these side by side, as I have a quad channel memory. Unfortunately one of them would overlap the plug ins for the motherboard, where the power is applied to the board. So I had to scrap that idea and put one in the middle of the RAM module slots, leaving two RAMs expose and the rest covered by the cooler. By a wide margin the cooler seems to cool down the RAMs that were exposed as well as the covered ones. So that was a plus. Most of my RAMs were cooled by 14°C 26°F and some were cooled down by 25°C 45°F. So I would say this cooler is capable of cooling FB-DIMMs by 14°C - 25°C (26°F - 45°F) and 14°C 26°F being average.

Got 1 of these as a last attempt on air cooling the rams b4 i went to complete water cooling for a solution. Well it does what it says on the tin. It is managing to keep my memory cool. Also the construction is well made, with options on screw mounts, so fear not if your graphics card and ram are close together, the mounting kit can allow adjustments to fit.
Yes could be considered a bit bright on the blue leds, but it looks cool lighting up the inside of my case. And finally as to noise i can not hear them, as other fans make more noise.

Have had the cooler fitted for a week now and it is doing
it's job nicely. I was impressed by the build quality, not a plastic unit that I was expecting, for the price.The product gets five stars from me,although the lights will not be seen when fitted in most computer cases.
