Handy size/design, but poor power supply

I love the non-rigid design of this, so adding oversized devices is no problem. However, the supplied power supply is of very poor grade. It will deliver nowhere near the rated current, and will be quite "dirty", meaning power-sensitive devices might be unreliable, and you can forget about charging high-power-requirement devices (like an iPad) in any reasonable time. The live pin of the plug became detached, and the DC wire came detached within 3-4 weeks (with at most 5 movements).
The hub itself (with a self-repaired power supply) does work fine, with a variety of devices, on Ubuntu.

Remarkable pros and cons - need-to-know!

The hub itself is a great design for fitting into a crowded desktop whichever way you want it to. Works very well and I'm sort-of glad I bought it.
BUT...
the cable from hub to PC really is just 8cm long
AND...
the power supply cable is less than 50 cm long.
Really, the cable lengths are so ridiculously short that I was actually laughing as I attempted to install the hub! Fortunately I found a (slightly lower power) mains supply with an multi-choice end tip and a longer cable in my shed so I've not needed to return it to Memory C. This item has real problems unless you have everything very close together on your desk.
